Harvesting Happiness: October at The Nest

Harvesting Happiness: October at The Nest

This month, we had the pleasure of welcoming Yoga Jo, who led some wonderful sessions with our young people. She introduced them to various techniques such as stretching, breathing, and relaxation. Our young people even created beautiful mandalas using natural items they foraged themselves. These sessions gave them valuable insights into how yoga can support their mental well-being, encouraging them to try new things and step out of their comfort zones.

We also received an incredible donation of £700 from Stuart at The Woolpatch, who generously raised the funds by selling his knitted Olympic hens in support of The Nest. We were delighted to meet Stuart and give him a tour of the site. This donation will go towards something very special—stay tuned for exciting news soon!

A big thank you to the team of volunteers from Cadent, who donated £5,000 and have been working hard to help us improve our barn. This month, they rolled up their sleeves and helped us move hay and straw bales, making space for some new developments in the barn.

With pumpkin season in full swing, our young people spent their final week before half-term enjoying some creative pumpkin carving, using the pumpkins grown right here at The Nest. 🎃

We’re also thrilled to announce that the prep school children of Woodbridge School have chosen The Nest as one of their charities to support and fundraise for this academic year! Be sure to follow along for updates on their upcoming events. We’re excited to join them at their Christmas Fair on Saturday, 7th December, with a range of fantastic items our young people have worked hard to create.

As we move into the colder months, rest assured that our team and young people are continuing to care for our animals. With layers on and muddy boots at the ready, they’re always prepared to get stuck in—and of course, there’s always a warm cup of hot chocolate waiting in the cosy barn at break time. ☕️

We are now on break for October half term, we hope everyone enjoys the spooky celebrations and look forward to seeing everyone back on the farm week beginning 4th November.
