A Wonderful Start to Summer
The sun has been shining, and we are thoroughly enjoying our summer term here at the farm.
This term, we have had the pleasure of welcoming some wonderful members of our local community to share their knowledge, experiences, and opportunities with our young people.
Learning About Community Support with FramFridge
Firstly, we welcomed Ruth and Lauren from FramFridge, a local charity dedicated to tackling food insecurity and reducing social isolation within our community.
They delivered an engaging and informative talk about the incredible work they do and the many volunteering opportunities available. From helping in their community garden to packing food boxes for local families, there are so many ways to get involved and make a difference.
Thank you, Ruth and Lauren, for taking the time to visit us. We hope some of our young people will take advantage of the fantastic opportunities available through FramFridge.
A Visit from the Sutton Hoo Ship's Company
Later in the term, we were delighted to welcome Jenny from the Sutton Hoo Ship's Company. She gave a fascinating presentation to both of our groups, introducing them to the remarkable project to rebuild the Sutton Hoo ship.
Our young people learned how traditional tools and skills are being used to recreate the vessel in the same way it would have been built centuries ago. Jenny also brought along ten wooden birds for us to decorate, cleverly making use of waste wood from the shipbuilding project.
The decorated birds accompanied us to the Suffolk Show and now take pride of place in our barn. It was a truly fantastic opportunity, and we are incredibly grateful to Jenny and the team for involving us in such a special project.
The Suffolk Show
During half term, our team attended the Suffolk Show to showcase the work we do and speak with people interested in learning more about our provision.
We made some wonderful new connections and met many brilliant young people and families throughout the event. To everyone who took that first step and came over to say hello, we admire your courage and curiosity.
We hope to hear from you soon and welcome you to the farm.
Thank You to Our BT Volunteers
We were also delighted to welcome back another fantastic group from BT, who joined us for a day of volunteering on the farm. The team got stuck into a variety of jobs, including painting our field shelter, planting up seedlings, and preparing pallet wood ready to be repurposed for future projects around the farm.
Their hard work and enthusiasm made a real difference, helping us complete important tasks while improving our facilities and outdoor spaces. Thank you to everyone who took part—we hope you had a fantastic day, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We are excited to see what the rest of the summer term brings!
