New Friends at The Nest
We’re delighted to welcome Brenda, our new bearded dragon, and Bulldozer, our tortoise! Both have already captured the hearts of our young people and volunteers alike. Be sure to say hello when you’re next at the farm.
A Strong Start to the Academic Year
A new academic year has begun, and we’re off to a fantastic start. Our new young people are quickly learning the ropes and settling in well.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated volunteers who show up week after week. Many have been with us since the very beginning, and their commitment means everything to us. We’ll soon be sharing a “Meet the Team” spotlight so you can get to know some of the wonderful people who make The Nest possible.
Changing Seasons on the Farm
As autumn arrives, the farm begins its seasonal transition. Many animals will soon move into the barn for the cooler months.
We’re especially excited about our newly decorated group session room. This space has quickly become the heart of our farm during the colder months. It’s not just a place to gather, but a safe, welcoming environment where young people can come together, share their thoughts, and know that they are heard.
Creating this space is about more than just comfort — it’s about belonging, connection, and support. For many of the young people who join us, knowing they are not alone and that their feelings matter can make all the difference. Whether it’s through group discussions, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying a hot chocolate and a chat, this room is a reminder that The Nest is a place where everyone can feel seen, valued, and safe.
Fundraising – A Lifeline for Our Young People
Fundraising remains a vital part of everything we do at The Nest. Many young people are referred to us each year, and without financial support, we wouldn’t be able to offer them the placements they need. These costs aren’t about profit — they go directly into covering our running expenses, caring for the animals, and making sure our facilities remain a safe and welcoming space for all.
When local events and community groups choose us as their charity partner, it means more than just a donation — it’s an investment in hope and opportunity. Having funds available to offer someone a placement right away can quite literally change the course of their life. It allows us to say “yes” in the moment it’s most needed, rather than putting a young person on a waiting list.
Every coffee morning, raffle, fun run, or workplace collection adds up to something bigger. It creates a ripple effect of kindness that reaches far beyond the farm gates. For the young people who come to us, your support is a message that says: you matter, you belong, and this community believes in you.
If you’re planning an event this year, or if your workplace is looking for a charity to support, we’d love to connect. Come and meet us, see the farm in action, and hear directly how your generosity can make a difference. Together, we can ensure The Nest continues to be a place of growth, healing, and belonging for local young people.
